Thursday's Highlight
There's a Sam's Club in town. It was Destination #1 today since we happen to have a membership card obtained in Plattsburgh, New York. The bus stops on the wrong side of the 4-lane expressway but an elevated crosswalk enables pedestrians to cross over it and the service roads without regard for traffic.
I might add that shopping is not my forté but I went along to provide moral support and potential help with bags. And to make sure I got peanut butter.
That's Carol and Linda highlighted.
I hung back to take the photo.

After Sam's club a supermarket called Bodega was Destination #2. My translator app tells me Bodega means 'wine cellar' but I assure you it is a grocery store. True, they do sell wine, clothes, kitchen appliances, auto supplies, and children's toys, but it's a grocery store.
With our food supplies replenished and piled in the trunk of a taxi we embarked on the ride home. What a surprising ride it was. Many taxi drivers here could justifiably be described as hasty, as though rehearsing for a movie car chase scene. But not this fellow. He observed the speed limit as though it was more than a suggestion. He observed the lines defining lanes on the road as though they had a purpose. He did not tailgate like some who seem actually eager for a fender bender.
At the open entrance to our building is a counter with an attendant serving as reception assistant. While the taxi driver and I were unloading groceries, this man told Carol that he knew our driver and he was a JW. This receptionist seems to enjoy letting JWs know when they are in the company of another JW because the reaction is so positive. Not only that, but he said another man standing nearby, who comes regularly to pick up laundry, was also a JW. There were immediate hugs.
Hermanos
The brother on the left side is Alfredo and the one on the right is Nahum, our taxi driver. They were both brought up as Witnesses and that explains the Biblical name for the taxi driver.
Once again, instant family.
And now I know why his driving was so good.
